Children's Library

The Webb City Public Library has a dedicated Children's Library that has books to entice readers of all ages. The Library also subscribes to a few services and databases to help children with learning and entertainment needs. We have a dedicated children's computer lab with 3 stations, that have access to ABC Mouse, along with access to many educational programs and games. Our Youth Service Librarian, Vicki Bibb, hosts a preschool story time during most of the year on Thursdays at 10:30 AM where she reads a couple of stories and has a craft for the children to do. We also try and have 2 programs throughout the year geared towards home schoolers, past programs include an art class and readers theatre. Be sure to watch our upcoming events calendar located on our homepage!

We have 3 computers for children aged 12 and under. We have a subscription to ABCmouse.com that can be accessed for free in the computer lab or by being connected to our WiFi network within the library.

ABCmouse.com: From Age of Learning, Inc., the award-winning ABCmouse.com curriculum is designed to help young children (ages 2-6+) build a strong foundation for future academic success. ABCmouse.com is 100% educational, with 3,500+ learning activities across all major subject areas—reading, math, science, social studies, art, and music. Best of all, kids love it!

TumbleBooks are animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. TBL also includes National Geographic videos and games. With a school licence, teachers and students have access to the Common Core Portal, quizzes and teacher materials/lesson plans! All you need is your library card number starting with 28262. Click HERE to access.

Webb City Public Library announces a partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, to offer free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The new service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.

This partnership allows the Library to harness the power of Driving-Tests.org’s specialized practice exams to turn new drivers into safer drivers. The new program will work as an outreach to several valued groups of patrons, including teens, those with disabilities, and seniors who need to take a renewal exam, as well as patrons at every other stage of life.
